Cardamom and hazelnut open with a warm, rounded quality that cinnamon and pink pepper bring closer to spiced than sweet. Bertrand Duchaufour layers pine and cypriol through the heart, giving the composition a resinous, slightly smoky core that davana then softens with a fruit-like quality. Palo santo and labdanum in the base are the architectural notes: they give Reasons its density, oakmoss lending the finish a green, mossy weight.

Why We Carry This

Duchaufour's Essences contribution is one of his most layered recent works. The six-month aging process the house uses for this collection is audible in the smoothness of the palo santo and labdanum base.
