Ralf Schwieger built Orange Sanguine in 2011 as a fragrance that could make blood orange feel warm rather than just tart. Three citrus materials open together: blood orange, bitter orange, and blood mandarin, each contributing a slightly different facet of the same deeply orange register. African geranium and Egyptian jasmine in the heart keep the composition from reading as purely citrus, adding a floral warmth that Madagascar pepper sharpens. Sandalwood and tonka bean in the base resolve into a warmth that the deep-citrus opening earns.
