Santal Carmin is Atelier Cologne's most sophisticated contribution to the sandalwood category: the cardamom-rose-iris approach to framing the central woody note gives the composition a floral-spice complexity that simpler sandalwood fragrances cannot achieve. Santal Carmin opens with cardamom, bergamot, and pink pepper in a spiced-citrus accord that gives the sandalwood heart a warm, aromatic frame. Rose and iris arrive in the mid-stage alongside the sandalwood, the floral-woody combination giving the composition a warmth and complexity that pure sandalwood fragrances typically lack. Vanilla and amber in the base soften the whole composition into a warm, close drydown that musk then extends. The carmine red of the name is in the warmth, not the notes.
