Basso

Basso opens on grapefruit, bright and short-lived. Carnation and labdanum give the heart a spiced, slightly waxy floral quality. The base is where the work is: vetiver, cedar, guaiac, oakmoss, sandalwood, black and pink pepper, nutmeg, and a green celery seed note that keeps the whole thing from smelling too polished.

Most woody fragrances stack the same three notes. Basso uses ten and still reads clean. The celery seed is the detail that makes it stick.
