The opening is the kind of citrus you actually want: Italian lemon and neroli with a fig note underneath that keeps it from reading as cleaning product. Ralf Schwieger adds green and aquatic texture in the heart without letting the composition go limp, a difficult trick. Immortelle holds things together with a faintly herbal sweetness, and the whole structure dries into Haitian vetiver and Indonesian patchouli leaf, earthy and cool. It smells like the hour before sunset in a coastal garden, and it wears better than most citrus EDPs have any right to.
Why We Carry This
Ralf Schwieger is one of the more technically accomplished perfumers working in the fresh category, and Citrus Riviera is evidence. It avoids the two pitfalls of most citrus fragrances: it doesn't vanish in an hour, and it doesn't compensate for that by going synthetic in the base. The vetiver-patchouli foundation gives it genuine depth.
