Creme de Cuir is David Benedek building an argument for leather as a warm rather than cold material. The leather note opens with a creaminess that iris then intensifies with a powdery, root-level quality. The combination of iris and leather in the heart is what gives the composition its character: the cool powderiness of the orris against the warm animalic quality of the leather creating a tension that vanilla and tonka bean in the base then resolve into something sweet and skin-close. The cream in the name is earned.
