Ardent
Ardent opens with Turkish rose and saffron, carrot seeds adding a rooty, earthy quality to the spice-rose accord before coriander sharpens the whole combination. Christian Provenzano builds the heart around beeswax and rose with hedione giving the floral a diffusive, radiant quality, jasmine threading through with a warmth that the beeswax amplifies. Agarwood and labdanum in the base give the composition its name: this is a fragrance that burns with a slow heat, patchouli and benzoin deepening the resin, vanilla and amber carrying the warmth through a long drydown.
Why We Carry This
The beeswax-rose heart in Ardent is the specific creative decision that makes Provenzano's 2012 composition still worth carrying. Beeswax gives the rose a warmth and slight animalic quality that labdanum and oud deepen in the base, and the whole arc from carrot seed-saffron to agarwood is a genuinely considered construction. British luxury executed with conviction.
