Blue Sapphire
Lemon and marigold open it with something closer to a herb garden than a citrus grove, chamomile and sage adding a dry, almost medicinal edge. Then saffron and rose step forward, and the oud arrives underneath them without drama, pulling everything into its orbit. There is patchouli and amber beneath, but the aromatics on top keep it from reading as a standard rose oud. It smells like something built to outlast the occasion.
Why We Carry This
Created to mark Queen Elizabeth's 65th wedding anniversary, Blue Sapphire carries that sense of occasion without self-importance. The aromatic-herbal opening is the reason it works where similarly positioned rose-ouds often feel one-dimensional.
