Astor Place opens with violet leaf and mandarin, the green-bitter quality of the violet against the citrus warmth before freesia and red poppy arrive in the heart. Orris root gives the floral heart a cool, powdery depth that teak wood and amber in the base then warm into a smooth, lasting drydown. Bond No.9 built this for the neighborhood where the house was founded: the NoHo-Astor area's blend of creative energy and Village permanence, violet leaf and teak together in a composition that is both sharp and settled.
