Then the peppers hit, red and green and black stacked on top of each other, and the fruit turns from candy-sweet to something closer to fresh-cut and slightly bitter. Green apple, mandarin, and apricot keep circling the leather without ever softening it.

Most fruity-leather blends pick a side and lean hard. Barítono keeps both in tension the whole way through, thanks to a base built on ambroxan and a caviar accord that reads more mineral than gourmand.
