Love Flame
Iris and chocolate do not often share the center of a fragrance, and in Love Flame they create a tension that is the composition's defining quality: the iris cool and powdery, the chocolate warm and dark. Bergamot and lavender give the opening brightness before ambrette and carrot seed pull the composition toward something more intimate and skin-like. Castoreum and benzoin in the base are the elements that give Love Flame its depth, vanillic and slightly animalic, sandalwood and vetiver giving the finish a dry, clean counterpoint.
Why We Carry This
Love Flame is the most technically interesting composition in the House of Dastan launch collection. Herpin's iris-chocolate-castoreum structure places it in a longer tradition of intimate orientals, and the carrot seed and ambrette in the heart give the powdery-dark core a skin-close quality that the vanilla-benzoin base then sustains. The Dastan release that most rewards close attention.
