The incense in the heart is not background smoke but the compositional center, oud and labdanum building resinous depth around it while rose provides a warmth that prevents the composition from turning cold and ecclesiastical. Cardamom and pink pepper in the opening prepare the transition, bergamot providing the only genuinely light moment. Benzoin and amber in the base are warm and balsamic, extending the incense quality deep into the drydown.
