Black Sea fills the dark oriental slot in our Lorenzo Pazzaglia selection without duplicating the cleaner registers elsewhere in the line. The labdanum-leather combination in the heart is handled with more restraint than the name and color palette suggest, which makes it genuinely wearable rather than theatrical.

Black pepper leads the opening of Black Sea with a directness that sets the mood: dark and slightly cold, with incense already building behind it before the leather and oud heart takes over. Labdanum in the mid-stage adds a resinous sweetness to the leather without softening its dry edge. Vetiver in the base keeps the composition rooted in something earthy, amber and cedarwood giving the drydown a warmth that the pepper-incense opening could not suggest on its own. This is moody, dense, and wears closer to the skin than its initial projection implies.
