Desirtoxic
Desirtoxic opens with cardamom and bergamot that are bright but brief, the black currant and cannabis heart arriving to redirect the composition toward something darker and more resinous. Cannabis as a heart note reads less like smoke and more like the raw, green-earthy quality of the plant before combustion, tonka bean giving the accord a sweetness that prevents it from turning purely austere. Benzoin and patchouli in the base add a balsamic depth, moss providing the animalic edge that Martine Micallef's formulas often carry. Unusual and deliberately so.
Why We Carry This
Cannabis as a perfumery note is handled clumsily by most houses. M. Micallef's Jewel Collection uses it in Desirtoxic with enough surrounding complexity that the material functions as a genuine ingredient rather than a provocation. The benzoin-moss base grounds the whole into something worth wearing repeatedly.
