Hibiscus opens with a tart, almost fruity sharpness that sits between flower and fruit without landing fully on either side. Quentin Bisch brings Damask rose alongside it, the two florals creating a dense floral core that peppermint makes surprisingly cool and green. Cassis and cinnamon push and pull at the edges, the cassis adding depth and the cinnamon keeping everything from becoming too polite. Ambrette musk and vanilla close it out softly, and the leather note underneath gives the composition a skin-level texture that keeps it interesting past the initial florality.

Quentin Bisch is one of the more interesting perfumers working today, and Hibiscus Mahajad showcases why: the hibiscus-rose-mint construction shouldn't work as well as it does, but Bisch has a gift for making unlikely combinations feel inevitable.
