Apom (a play on 'a piece of me') opened Kurkdjian's first independent collection and still reads as a thesis statement. Petitgrain and neroli give the opening a Mediterranean citrus freshness that orange blossom then takes into something richer and more complex. Iris in the heart adds a powdery depth that prevents the orange blossom from turning cloying, jasmine threading warmth through the mid-stage. Sandalwood and amber in the base resolve the whole composition into a clean warmth that holds well past six hours.

Apom is where Kurkdjian's independent vision started, and it still holds up twenty years later as a demonstration of how orange blossom and iris function together when handled by someone who understands proportion. The petitgrain-sandalwood arc is a quiet masterclass.
