Aldehydes in the opening give Iris Leather a brightness that feels slightly vintage, the bergamot and grapefruit sharper than they would be without the aldehyde lift. The iris and leather combination in the heart is the compositional center: powdery and smooth from the iris, dry and tenacious from the leather, violet softening the edge between them. Ambergris in the base adds depth to the vetiver and cedarwood foundation that extends the leather quality into the drydown without the composition turning heavy. Precise and well-structured.
