Ithaque
Ithaque is Ithaca, and Memo's rendering of it is less the island than the idea of the island: salt air over blue water, the kind of morning where the light on the sea is still and the whole Mediterranean feels held in suspension. Marine notes and bergamot open with a saline brightness, and iris in the heart adds a powdery, almost classical quality to the floral accord of rose and jasmine. Ambergris in the base is what distinguishes this from the marine genre's less committed entries: it gives the drydown a warmth and depth that straight marine compositions rarely sustain.
Why We Carry This
Memo Paris built its catalog on travel and geography, and Ithaque is one of the house's most evocative geographic references. The ambergris base is the material that earns it a place on our shelf: it is the detail that distinguishes a fragrance about the sea from a fragrance that is merely aquatic.
