Tamarind in the opening is sour and slightly fruity, grapefruit giving it a citrus context before the vetiver takes the composition in a completely different direction. The vetiver-patchouli heart is earthy and rooty in the way that only natural materials achieve, jasmine threading through to prevent the combination from going too dry. Labdanum deepens the resinous quality, and the amber-benzoin base gives the whole composition a warm balsamic resolution. The tamarind opening and the vetiver heart seem unlikely together; the result proves otherwise.

Tamarindo is Memo Paris at its most structurally adventurous in the travel collection. The tamarind-to-vetiver transition should not work as well as it does. Massenet builds the bridge through the jasmine-labdanum pairing, and the benzoin base pulls both poles into a coherent whole. The terracotta suede bottle suits the Latin American origin of the fruit.
