Intense Amber
The rose in Intense Amber is Moroccan and it reads as such: dense, slightly waxy, warm rather than green. Saffron threads through the opening with enough presence to color the rose before ambergris takes over in the heart with a marine warmth that is less sea and more skin. Raspberry in the base is the element that catches people off guard; it adds a fruited sweetness to the sandalwood without announcing itself as a fruit note. Vanilla and white musk carry the composition to a close that is genuinely long on skin.
Why We Carry This
The raspberry-in-the-base move is the detail that distinguishes Intense Amber from a standard Montale rose-amber construction. It works because the raspberry is subordinate enough to read as warmth rather than fruit, and the ambergris heart gives the whole composition a depth that justifies the Intense designation.
