Fig and oud are an unusual pairing and Oudmazing commits to it. The opening is bergamot and pear with the oud already present beneath them, its resinous quality sharpened by the fruit rather than sweetened by it. Orris in the heart does something interesting: it bridges the fig and the oud with a powdery-green quality that softens neither without flattening both. Leather in the base is subtle, more texture than statement, and the grapes and vanilla give the drydown a rounded sweetness that keeps the oud from becoming austere.

The fig-oud construction in Oudmazing is not a combination you find often, and it works because both materials have green, woody qualities that allow the orris to bridge them credibly.
