Vanilla Cake
Heliotrope in the heart is the note that stops Vanilla Cake from being what the name implies. Its powdery, slightly cherry-almond quality shifts the vanilla and tonka bean heart away from straightforward confectionery and into something more complex and wearable. The almond note deepens this quality further. Raspberry in the opening gives a brief fruit brightness before the cardamom asserts more structure, and benzoin in the base gives the vanilla drydown a warmth that holds well past six hours. Unabashedly sweet, but with a grown-up foundation.
Why We Carry This
Heliotrope and tonka together in the heart of a vanilla composition is a deliberate technical choice, not a shortcut. The powdery-almond quality heliotrope brings modulates the sweetness in a way that keeps Vanilla Cake relevant past the obvious occasion. The benzoin base is worth noting separately for the depth it adds to the drydown.
