Pineapple and saffron in the same opening create an accord that is simultaneously tropical and metallic, the bergamot keeping the combination from reading as too sweet or too sharp. Leyenda 21 is named for a legend, and the rose-jasmine heart has the density to support that framing: it is a full, warm floral accord with ambergris already present beneath it. Moss and fir resin in the base give the patchouli-sandalwood foundation a green, slightly alpine quality, the vanilla threading through as warmth rather than sweetness.

The pineapple-saffron opening in Leyenda 21 is the most distinctive thing in the RDZ range. Most tropical-oriental constructions separate these accords into different stages; this one puts them in direct conversation at the top, and the moss-fir resin base gives the result unexpected depth.
