Doux Ennui
Doux Ennui (sweet boredom) is the most unusual fragrance The House of Oud has produced: a fragrance named for languor, composed to feel like an unhurried afternoon. Aldehydes in the opening are clean and slightly floral, bergamot and lemon keeping the brightness measured. Violet and iris take the heart with rose alongside, the combination powdery and deliberate. Sandalwood and cedarwood in the base are warm and understated, musk giving the finish a skin-close quietness. It is the house's most restrained composition.
Why We Carry This
Doux Ennui is our counterargument to clients who assume The House of Oud only makes bold, heavy compositions. The aldehyde-iris-sandalwood structure is classically restrained, and it demonstrates that the house can work in a completely different register with the same material quality.
