The capital the title references is Paris, and La Capitale is Xerjoff's attempt at the French grand parfum register: saffron and pink pepper in the opening with bergamot, then rose and iris in the heart with the powdery elegance those materials carry in classical French perfumery. Oud appears in the base alongside leather, anchoring the composition in something darker and more Eastern than the floral heart suggests. Patchouli and sandalwood complete the base, and the overall drydown is warm, complex, and resolutely long-lasting.
