The Extrait format of Gris Charnel reveals the composition's full architecture: the cistus incanus addition in particular transforms the base from warm-woody to warm-resinous, and the Indonesian patchouli leaf gives the earthy heart a specific material quality. The fig-cardamom-black tea opening is one of BDK's most compositionally unusual entries. Worth the concentration upgrade.

Gris Charnel Extrait intensifies the original's already precise construction with cistus incanus and Indonesian patchouli leaf, two additions that deepen the base considerably. Cardamom, fig, and black tea open with a warm, slightly smoky-vegetal accord before iris and Bourbon vetiver arrive in the heart: cool and earthy in counterbalance. The Extrait concentration makes the cistus incanus more prominent in the base, its labdanum-resin quality giving the vanilla and tonka a richer, darker foundation that the EDP version only suggests.
