Original Santal takes the sandalwood note and treats it as the composition's center of gravity from the outset: bergamot and neroli open cleanly, but the sandalwood is present from the first spray, giving the citrus a warmth and creaminess that transforms the opening into something immediately intimate. Rose and jasmine through the heart are present more as inflection than architecture, the sandalwood always dominant, and cedar and ambergris in the base extend the wood note with a warmth that develops well into the evening.
