Oud Zarian opens with bergamot and pink pepper beside saffron, a combination that gives the composition both brightness and immediate warmth before the oud arrives in the heart. Creed's treatment of oud here is characteristically clean rather than raw or animalic: the rose softens the oud's edge, and labdanum gives the heart a resinous depth that amber then carries into the base.
