Royal Water
Peppermint and verbena in the opening give Royal Water a sharp, almost medicinal brightness that softens quickly as bergamot and lemon settle around it. Cumin in the heart adds a faintly animalic warmth that the citrus top keeps from becoming heavy, and basil brings a culinary quality that makes the whole thing feel lived-in rather than clean. Ambergris and Tonkin musk at the base anchor it for hours.
Why We Carry This
Royal Water from 1997 still does something that most modern citrus fragrances do not attempt: the cumin-basil heart gives the brightness at the top a genuine counterweight, and ambergris in the base keeps it projecting well past the opening.
