Poppy & Barley
Poppy & Barley is Jo Malone at its most English countryside. The opening reads as open-air and green: poppy and barley together, the flower's delicate quality against the cereal's warmth and slight dustiness. Green wheat extends the agrarian accord with a fresh-cut quality before vetiver arrives in the base to give the composition its characteristic earthen depth. Musk holds the whole structure close to skin. This is a fragrance for people who know what an English field smells like in late summer and wanted to wear it.
Why We Carry This
The barley note in Poppy & Barley is one of the more unusual materials in the Jo Malone range, and the composition demonstrates what the house does well: building around a specific, unusual accord and letting it breathe. The vetiver base gives the green-cereal opening a genuine depth that the restraint of the construction has earned.
