Fig and vodka at the opening makes sense once you smell it: the alcohol note gives the fig leaf a sharpness that reads briny and slightly aquatic, the caviar accord amplifying the ozonic quality. Ficus in Fabula is built entirely around the fig plant from trunk to fruit, and the movement through the composition reflects that: leaf and sea notes at the top, davana and dried fruits in the heart adding a slightly fermented warmth, then the fig tree base with cedar and hazelnut giving the whole structure a woody, grounded close. Ambroxan gives the drydown its lasting power.
