MFK Oud opens with saffron and elemi, the saffron adding its characteristic metallic warmth while elemi brings a bright, citrus-resinous quality that is rare in oud compositions. Then the oud arrives and the composition resolves into its central argument: agarwood treated with Francis Kurkdjian's Western precision rather than Eastern opulence, the result simultaneously faithful to the material and distinctly French. Patchouli and cedar in the base give the drydown an earthy depth that supports the oud without duplicating it. Restrained and authoritative.
