Ocean Leather
Sea salt and aldehydes together in the opening of Ocean Leather create something that reads as spray from an open deck, bright and slightly metallic, before the leather takes over in the heart. Massenet positions the leather against iris and violet rather than dark resins, which keeps the aquatic opening quality alive in the transition. The leather is dry and clean, not animalic or smoky. Ambergris in the base gives the drydown a marine depth that loops back to the sea salt opening, making Ocean Leather feel composed rather than assembled.
Why We Carry This
The aquatic-leather axis is a difficult combination. Massenet solves it by keeping the leather clean and dry and the marine element specific to ambergris rather than synthetic sea notes in the base. The result is cohesive in a way that most aquatic leather fragrances are not. The charcoal-navy suede bottle is the house's best packaging for this one.
