Palais Bourbon
Aldehydes in the opening of Palais Bourbon place the composition firmly in a classical tradition, the soapy, metallic quality of the accord giving the bergamot opener a brightness that modern citrus compositions no longer attempt. Iris and rose in the heart are the florals of 20th-century French grand parfumerie rather than contemporary niche perfumery, jasmine adding depth to the powdery arrangement. Vetiver and sandalwood in the base anchor the composition in warmth, and the amber drydown extends the classical quality long past the opening's fanfare.
Why We Carry This
Palais Bourbon is Memo Paris paying deliberate tribute to the French parfum tradition through the use of aldehydes, a material most contemporary houses avoid. The iris-rose-vetiver structure is classically composed, and Memo's material quality makes the aldehyde opening credible rather than anachronistic. This is the most historically considered fragrance in our Memo selection.
