Aoud Lime
Lime opens this with a tartness that the bergamot and lemon amplify into something sharp and very clean, the citrus combination in the opening functioning as a genuine palate cleanser before the oud arrives. The oud here is dry and woody rather than animalic, rose and jasmine giving it a floral frame that prevents it from sitting too heavily. Cedarwood and amber in the base resolve the contrast between the bright opening and the resinous heart into something coherent and surprisingly wearable. The fresh-to-dark evolution is quick and satisfying.
Why We Carry This
Aoud Lime solves a specific problem: how to make oud accessible without stripping it of character. The four-citrus opening acts as a contrast that makes the oud heart read as more refined than it would in isolation. Among Montale's oud range, this is the most immediately approachable entry point.
