Why We Carry This
Montale's oud compositions are built around specific provenance, and Nepal Aoud is the most direct example: the Nepalese oud is the composition's argument, and the saffron-nutmeg frame makes that argument audible. The vanilla-leather base gives the fragrance a warmth that extends the oud's presence through the entire drydown. Material sourcing expressed through composition.
Character
Accords: Oud, Amber, Woody, Leather, Warm Spicy, Resinous
Perfumer: Pierre Montale
Launched: 2012
Nepal Aoud opens with Kashmiri saffron and nutmeg, two spice notes that float above the Nepalese oud rather than competing with it. Pierre Montale uses the spice accord as a frame: warmth and sharpness that makes the oud's arrival in the heart feel earned rather than abrupt. Bulgarian rose softens the oud-amber combination with a floral warmth, and the base resolves into Madagascar vanilla and leather against white musk: rich, warm, and persistent. A composition built around the specific character of its oud source.
