Saffron in the opening shifts Sensual Instinct immediately into Middle Eastern territory, its metallic warmth cutting through the cardamom and bergamot with something more complex than citrus-spice combinations typically offer. Labdanum in the heart adds a resinous quality alongside the rose and jasmine, the orris giving the florals a rooty depth. Amber and patchouli in the base build slowly, and by the late drydown the saffron has faded into the amber register where the two materials become difficult to separate. Long-wearing, heavy, and built for cooler weather.
