Ani takes its name from the ancient Armenian capital, and the fragrance carries something of that layered, long-settled quality. Saffron and blackcurrant in the opening give the bergamot a depth and color that most oriental openings achieve only gradually. Oud and incense in the heart are the compositional weight, rose and jasmine providing a warmth that prevents the combination from turning too ecclesiastical. The amber and sandalwood base develops slowly, vanilla arriving in the late drydown to soften what is otherwise a serious, dry oriental. Morillas at a high concentration.
