Carios opens at full volume: saffron and red mandarin hitting the air simultaneously, bright and slightly resinous, the way sunlight through amber glass looks warmer than it should. Geranium and red thyme pull it sideways into something herbal and alive rather than sweet, and the ambroxan base gives the whole thing a skin-close warmth that reads as radiance rather than weight. Tonka bean and vetiver anchor it without pulling it down.

Parfums de Marly's 2025 debut in the Extrait concentration earns its place on the strength of that red thyme-geranium pivot, which stops Carios from being another saffron-amber crowd pleaser and gives it genuine character. Fresh enough for daytime, substantial enough to be interesting by evening.
