Christian Provenzano opens with cypress leaf and grapefruit before saffron and cardamom warm things considerably, an unusually bitter, green start for a fragrance that ends up this dark. Bulgarian rose and nutmeg carry the heart, but the real work happens in a base stacked eight notes deep: oud, leather, cedar, sandalwood, amber, tonka, vanilla, and musk all layered together.

That base is dense enough to read as a genuine leather-oud rather than a polite Western reinterpretation of one. It runs warm and heavy, better suited to cold weather than summer, and the opening's bright grapefruit burns off fast, leaving mostly rose and leather within the hour.
