Sweetie Aoud is Roja at his most intentionally opulent. The gurjan balsam, frankincense, and olibanum surround the oud with the kind of material weight that only genuine expertise can balance without collapse. Sweetie Aoud opens with artemisia and bergamot, the wormwood-like quality of the artemisia giving the opening an herbal bitterness that the bergamot softens only partially. May rose and cistus incanus in the heart are the transition: rose adding warmth, cistus incanus a labdanum-adjacent resinous quality that prepares for the base. Then the oud arrives surrounded by olibanum, frankincense, and gurjan balsam, a resinous-balsamic composition of the kind that Roja approaches with the authority of someone who has spent decades sourcing the materials himself. The gourmand accord threads through as a sweet connector that earns the first word in the name.
