Queen of the Night
Kyphi is an ancient Egyptian ceremonial incense blend, and The Merchant of Venice uses it here as a heart note alongside frankincense and amber, giving Queen of the Night an olfactory depth rooted in something older than Venetian trade. Saffron and cinnamon open with warmth and heat, blue lotus adding a slightly aquatic-floral note that contrasts with the spice. The myrrh and sandalwood base give the composition a balsamic richness that develops slowly, the tonka bean providing a sweetness in the close that is far more restrained than the opening's intensity would predict.
Why We Carry This
The kyphi note in Queen of the Night is genuinely rare in contemporary niche perfumery and it earns the fragrance its designation. The combination of ancient incense materials with blue lotus and saffron is a Venetian-Eastern construction that rewards wearing without the expectation of something light.
