Costa Azzurra
The Ligurian coast between Portofino and La Spezia has a specific quality in late afternoon: saltwater air layered over cypress and dry stone. Costa Azzurra captures that rather than the azure postcard version. Violet leaves give the opening a green, almost vegetal sharpness that sea notes and bergamot keep from turning acrid. Galbanum and cypress in the heart are resinous and cool, cedar adding structure. Oakmoss in the base grounds the composition in a chypre-adjacent quality that gives it genuine longevity.
Why We Carry This
Costa Azzurra is the most literarily accurate of Tom Ford's Italian Private Blends. Rodrigo Flores-Roux used galbanum and cypress to capture the cooler, more rugged side of the Ligurian coastline rather than its resort image. The oakmoss base is the material investment that separates this from a generic aquatic.
