Tuscan Leather
Raspberry and saffron in the opening read initially as almost sweet, until the leather arrives in the heart and recontextualizes everything that came before. Birch tar gives the leather a smoky, medicinal quality that jasmine tries to soften and mostly fails to, which is correct: Tuscan Leather should be uncomfortable in exactly this way. Suede and oakmoss in the base resolve the composition into something dry and authoritative, amber providing a warmth that keeps it from being purely cold.
Why We Carry This
Tuscan Leather remains one of the most studied leather compositions in contemporary perfumery. Fremont's raspberry-birch combination solved a problem that Knize Ten and Cuir de Russie posed differently, and the answer still reads as fresh. We carry it as the reference leather in our Tom Ford selection.
