African orange flower in the opening is different from standard neroli: it has a slight earthiness, almost metallic, before petitgrain and lemon lift the accord into something brighter. Oesel's heart is a mimosa-white flower bouquet that reads simultaneously creamy and airy, the mimosa's powdery quality given depth by the jasmine and rose. Then tobacco blossom in the base, which is not tobacco leaf but the flower, softer and sweeter, giving the amber foundation a slightly floral-honeyed quality that extends the drydown into something unexpectedly warm for what begins as a white floral.

The tobacco blossom base in Oesel is the element that gives this Shooting Stars release its character. Most white floral compositions resolve into clean musk. This one resolves into amber-tobacco flower-patchouli, which is a fundamentally more interesting proposition and one that rewards wearing over a full day.
